  • Bowl Pottery
    June 2023

    During your workshop, Hayley Farrelly, from Bramley Pottery, will take you through the process of making this Water Lily Serving Bowl.

    Once your bowl has dried she will fire it in her kiln and then glaze in a celadon colour of your choice.

    The bowl can be enjoyed every day; the glaze is food safe so can be used for serving food.

    The pottery journey takes time, so expect to wait up to a month after the workshop to receive your pieces as this will allow time for them to dry, to be bisque fired, glazed and re-fired.

    Once finished, your pottery can be collected from her studio in Ballinger, or they can be sent in the post.

    Please bring an apron to the workshop and Hayley will provide all the tools you need to make your pottery pieces.

    This course accommodates 6 people.

    In this workshop you will discover how to take fabulous photos with your smartphone.

    We all walk round with a camera in our pocket these days and imagery is everywhere, so join us to discover how to stand out from the crowd and get the best from your phone.

    The workshop will include taking photos, how to enhance them, lighting and composition as well as external apps and discussion about what you do with your photos afterwards.

    This workshop would be perfect for business owners and those bloggers who use Instagram and Pinterest etc to promote their business as well as the casual photographer.

    Jenny Kaye is a professional photographer and will share her hints and tips for creating stunning imagery.

  • Floral Workshop
    April 2023

    Immerse yourself in the world of flowers and foliage with Amanda from On the Green Floristry, whilst creating a gorgeous Hand tied Bouquet to take away with you to cherish at home or to give as a gift.

    You will cover, conditioning the flowers, spiralling, packing and preparing a water bubble and final touches to make a hand tied look amazing.

    During the session you will focus on making a Hand Tied Bouquet and you will be able to choose the flowers you would like to include from the selection provided.

    There will also be a demonstration with shop bought supermarket flowers showing how with a little time and a few clever tweaks you can make a stunning basket arrangement.

    The session includes all flowers, foliage and packing plus coffee and home-made refreshments on arrival!

  • How To Basically…Power drill

    Learning the basics of how to use a power drill is the gateway to being able to fix and hang most things in your home.

    In this practical hands on workshop, run by tutors from How To Basically, you will learn the proper techniques for operating and maintaining a power drill.

    Topics covered include safety precautions, drill bit selection, and basic drilling skills. Upon completion of this course, you will have the knowledge and skills necessary to confidently and safely use a power drill for various projects.

    Whether you’re a DIY enthusiast or looking to expand your professional toolkit, this course will provide you with the right foundation to get started with power drilling.

    The sense of satisfaction and empowerment you can get from grasping the basics is amazing. Our Power Drill course will demystify and simplify all the functions and pieces of a power drill set.

    Some theory, but mostly practical, throughout this course you will put your new skills safely into practice by drilling into multiple materials, and building your very own wooden bird box.

    There are 8 places available, working in two groups of 4, with a tutor in each group.

  • House Plant Know How
    April 2023

    Susie Lickman from Windowsill will give you the ultimate guide to buying and keeping your houseplants healthy and thriving.

    Houseplants can positively affect our environments and promote well-being, but often are a source of anxiety over keeping them alive or sadness when they don’t make it.

    During this relaxed course you will learn more about what your houseplants need to flourish and understand how to better look after them.

    We will examine the different factors that affect growth and health of the plants (light, warmth, humidity, watering, feeding and soil) and guide you through how to apply this knowledge to the different plants in your collection, so that they thrive and you can enjoy them without the stress.

    Susie will also be bringing a range of house plants to purchase on the day.

  • Lampshade Making
    February 2023

    Learn to craft your own drum lampshade, suitable for either a table or ceiling light, with Katrina de Toney of Lampshade Parade.

    During this course you will learn how to make your very own 30cm drum lampshade to take home with you. All the tips and skills that you acquire on the day will enable you to confidently recreate the steps at home to make more lampshades as and when you wish.

    Please bring your own choice of fabric, 100cm x 40cm, all other materials and equipment will be provided.

    The course is suitable for complete beginners as all steps will be carefully explained and demonstrated, along with all the short cuts, finer techniques and advice that will take your lampshade from amateur to professional!

  • Lift Your Mood with Macrame
    January 2023

    If you think that Macrame is all hanging baskets, then think again!

    Katherine Nelson has a background in Developmental Psychology, and she explains that there is scientific evidence to support the claims that creative activities can relieve stress, enhance brain function, boost your mood, and improve mental health.

    Also, Macrame is enjoying a renaissance. Designers such as Jimmy Choo and Esteban Cortazar and the model Kate Moss are bringing back Macrame, working it into belts, bags and sandals!

    During this workshop you will learn a little bit of history behind the art form and a look into the deeper significance of the Tree of Life.

    Katherine will then take you step by step through the three simple knots at the heart of Macrame, to produce a Tree of Life wall hanging. Add a few more basic knots and the applications and creations are endless.

    So, not only will you leave her workshop feeling more relaxed, you will also leave with a beautiful finished piece of Macrame that you can display and take pride in or gift to a friend or family member.

    This course is suitable for beginners upwards and all materials and equipment will be provided as well as the usual tea and delicious home-made cakes.
